When EJ told me his plan was to propose to Emily on a boat in Lake Michigan, I was pretty excited. The lake is one of Chicago’s most beautiful features, so proposing amidst its gorgeous waters is pretty dang romantic if you ask me. However, just as I arrived to North Ave Beach, the plan EJ and I had settled on swiftly began to fall apart. EJ texted that the waves were too choppy; we’d need to come up with a back-up location FAST. Luckily, the harbor where they’d be docking the boat was not only much calmer, but also very picturesque. I hopped back in my car and zipped up to Belmont Harbor: our new location.

There, in the harbor with Chicago’s skyline peeking in the distance, EJ proposed to Emily. She said YES!! Even though I couldn’t hear anything from where I was, their excitement and happiness was more than evident. Friends cheered from the dock, and EJ and Emily made their way back to shore.

EJ and Emily are totally rad humans. They are also so stunningly in love that taking their photos quite honestly the highlight of my day.
