On a hot summer evening in the Windy City, I put on my best acting face and headed out to North Avenue Beach. Aazil and Alysha were visiting from Canada and staying with some good friends of theirs. The plan was that we’d “run into each other.” I’d pretend to be an old college friend of one of their friends. I would then be in a perfect position to capture their proposal.

Complete with music, two carrots (an inside joke about proposing with a “two carat/carrots” ring), and their best friends in tow, Alysha said YES! and the champagne was popped!

We had a lot of fun taking some photos along North Avenue Beach together afterward, and they all got to celebrate 4th of July fireworks together the next day before flying back to Canada.
